Sounds of the Desert

Last weekend I was in Moab Utah for the big Jeep Safari weekend. In addition to all of the off road action I went on some spectacular hikes. If you've never been to Moab, you should plan a trip there. It's worth the travel no matter where you live. There is no other scenery like it in the world!
Anyway.... I took my pipes. Those who know me well might be surprised. I wouldn't normally take bagpipes on vacation, but I wanted to get some pictures. I carried the pipes a short way into The Double Arches and put them together for a quick impromptu show/photo shoot in the rocks. Personally, I think pipers who insist on playing their bagpipes everywhere they go are a bit annoying, but I really wanted to get the pictures and the other hikers seemed to think it was pretty cool. Turns out most people I run into are more interested in the pipes then I am!

Funny!!!!

What? Pipers annoying? Un-heard of! LOL

While I tend to agree, there are places I have piped (deep in the Coastal Redwoods, On the Mogollon Rim, On the Pacific shore, etc.) that were special for me. A bit selfish in that it was FOR me rather for anyone who might have been about. Sometimes spiritual places call for spiritual acts. On the other hand, there are those who shamelessly promote themselves at every opportunity.
